Research carried out at the Technion Internal Combustion Engines Laboratory has a direct effect on the environmental impact of automobile fleets, government policy and advancing the state of the art in engine technology. Following the research carried out by TICEL:
- Entire gasoline and diesel fuel sold in Israel is additized by the deposit control additives;
- Strategy of lead phasing-out from gasoline was implemented and realized in Israel;
- A problem of the long-term diesel fuel storage was resolved;
- A national database of vehicle emission factors was developed;
- A method of assessment of diesel fuel effects on vehicle emissions was incorporated into ARTEMIS model widely used in Europe for vehicle emissions evaluation.
